Interiors that you resemble .

What's the atmosphere like, Machao?
It's about giving free rein to colors and patterns. It's about daring to mix them. It's about prioritizing the charm of the old combined with the modernity of textiles.
It's about playing with materials, styles, objects, and eras. It's about forgetting imposed trends and cloned interiors.
It's about having fun combining favorite pieces to make your homes joyful and unique.
To make them places that reflect who you are.

Dusting off the upholstery, reviving a craft.

I practice a craft as old as the world, that of upholsterer. A precious skill, passed down through generations.

There are very few upholsterers left in Belgium, and the profession is often associated with a very classical aesthetic: thick velvets and garish decorative nails on castle armchairs frozen in the past.

I want to wake him up.

With Machao, I retain the technique of artisanal work… but I modernize the expression. Through daring combinations, contemporary textiles, assertive patterns, unexpected contrasts, bold details.

Behind each piece, there are hours of meticulous work, a true respect for the craft and the desire to create a dialogue between tradition and modernity.

Repair rather than replace .

I deeply believe in sustainability. Repair. Restore. Reinvent.

Antique furniture possesses a robustness rarely found today. Solid structures, solid wood, a presence, a soul. And where one might see the imperfections of time, I see only charm.

Rather than constantly producing more, I prefer to breathe new life into things. To extend what already exists. To enhance what is already there.

Choosing a restored piece is not only an aesthetic choice, but also an ethical one. It's an investment in something durable, solid, and meaningful.

Maison Machao has also been awarded by BeCircular, certified as a craftsman and obtained the first prize in Sustainability at the Brussels Shopping Label in 2024.
